1. Our Infrastructure Costs Are Low
ThumbnailsFast is a static web application. There is no database, no backend server processing your requests in real time, and no per-request compute cost for the core downloader. Our hosting bill is a fraction of what a full SaaS product would cost.
When you paste a YouTube URL, your browser does the work — it constructs the thumbnail URL, fetches the image directly from YouTube's CDN, and displays it to you. Our server just delivers the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files. That's it.
2. We Don't Sell Your Data
Some "free" tools are free because you are the product — your search history, your IP address, your browsing patterns are packaged and sold to advertisers. We don't do this. The Privacy Policy documents exactly what we collect (essentially nothing beyond standard server logs).
3. Future Monetisation — We'll Be Transparent About It
We may add contextual advertising in the future. If we do, it will be clearly labelled and will not affect the tool's functionality or any of the free limits. We will not introduce a paywall for the core downloader.
More advanced AI-powered features (like our upcoming Thumbnail Generator) will carry real compute costs — those features may be metered or limited on the free tier when they launch. We'll communicate this clearly before it happens.
4. We Believe Utility Tools Should Be Free
Downloading a thumbnail is a 10-second task that should not require a credit card, an email address, or a software installation. The utility is too small to justify a paywall. Building ThumbnailsFast as a free tool is a deliberate product decision, not a temporary launch strategy.
